I just got my picture.  I LOVE it!  And I don’t mean “it’s nice, it will look good on the wall” like, I mean “if I took my favorite element from every cNote I have seen and designed my perfect picture, this is it” like!  Thank you SO much for doing it for me.  I’ll send pics once it’s framed and on the wall.  Heidi S., Brunswick, ME

Great Concept! Stephen Holland, California

The cNOTE concept is very cool – I stopped by the Conde Nast Building to check it out and spent some time on the website.  It has made me think differently about music.  Steve B., Greenwich, CT

“CONSEQUENCES”

People have long been fascinated by the idea of synesthesia ( a unified sensory response involving all of the senses, where a sound is a color or a taste, etc.).  The idea that these equivalents are universal and not subjective seems to hold the promise are universal and not subjective seems to hold the promise of a universal truth.  Erik Rosen’s works in this vein have a sense of inevitability about them.  As abstractions, their rhythms and chroma have a deja vu feeling . . .something we’ve always known, but have not seen before.

Like many hard edged abstractions, these pieces use the grid as an organizing system.  However, in this case, the systematic approach is total, using the artist’s cNote system for transposing the auditory to visual.  The conceptual basis of this art is an ordering system that produces an image relative to context and input.  In this case, the input is popular music.  Its structure generates an equivalent image based on the rules established by cNote.  Therefore, these works are perceived as analogs of the musical pieces.  As interesting as the process is, the works have a validity as a visual experience that’s independent of their origins.  These works live as geometric abstractions that convey a lyrical presence through their rhythms and patterns of color and require no further justification.

Your exhibit was so wonderful. So unique and fascinating! Lisa E., New York City

Beautiful art. Brilliant.  You may have created a new form of communication, too. Imagine if this method could also be converted to a "universal” language, that all languages and dialects could be translated into? I bet we would very clearly see mood, power dynamics, the energy of language of war and destruction, of peace and love, happy thoughts, sad thoughts, etc ... No wonder I loved "One." My favorite.  Rachel M., Boston, MA

That is very unique and beautiful as well. Interesting story behind it too! BitchKeepsBitchin’, Shidoobee
