The Cowboy Take Me Away cNOTE is available through cNoteART’s Museum Series and Fine Art Series Custom Editions.

"The ‘Cowboy Take Me Away’ cNOTE has an undeniable visual interest,” Erik Rosen, Founder of cNoteART, said. “However, unlike many other songs, that interest stems not from color, but a diversity of relative rectangle sizes throughout the piece. In other words, color does not drive this cNOTE. Shape does. It’s unique, just like the Dixie Chicks.”

For more information, www.cNoteART.com or (617) 834-9600.
cNoteART’s Custom Print Collections, http://www.cnoteart.com/cnote/BUY.html
The Dixie Chicks’ Song “Cowboy Take Me Away” http://www.cnoteart.com/cnote/NEWS/NEWS.html or

The California Girls cNOTE is available as a custom print via cNoteART’s Museum Series and Fine Art Series Collections.

"The song, ‘California Girls’ by the Beach Boys has a West Coast, ocean look to it when it is converted into a fine art image or a ‘cNOTE,’” Erik Rosen, Founder of cNoteART, said. “The California Girls cNOTE is filled with beach colors, such as yellow, orange, blue and teal. It reminds me of a Southern California beach on a clear day. This is a special instance where the visual representation of the music has a symbiotic relationship with the song’s lyrics.”

For more information, http://www.cNoteART.com or (617) 834-9600.
cNoteART’s Custom Print Collections, http://www.cnoteart.com/cnote/BUY.html

The Fool in the Rain cNOTE is available in a variety of sizes and options via cNoteART’s Custom Print Collections.

"Led Zeppelin’s ‘Fool in the Rain’ feels like several distinct musical pieces crafted into one complete song,” Erik Rosen, Founder of cNoteART, said. “It is an example of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.
As Erik Rosen ’90 lay in bed at MemorialSloan Kettering Hospital a year ago, he couldn’t hear the VelvetUnderground’s “Rock and Roll” coming out of his iPod, but he could see it in a kaleidoscope of colors on the wall. Rosen’s synesthesia (when a stimulus in one sense involuntarily elicits a sensation in another sense) has been the inspiration for his cNote Art, which he exhibited over the summer at the Conde Nast Building in Times Square, New York City.

Comparing his experience to something out of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Rosen said that he’s not sure if the synesthesia that happened to him over the course of a few days was a result of his medical condition, or the pain reliever he was being administered. Lying in a sterile room for 35 days after his second stem cell transplant for Stage IV Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Rosen was at one of his lowestpoints, he said.

Rosen, a financial consultant, took the synesthesia experience and turned it into a positive by creating a computer platform to produce images that mimic what he saw. Although he
doesn’t still experience the synesthesia, Rosen said he believes the platform
is an accurate portrayal of his vision. Rectangles of various widths represent note duration, and each musical pitch has a corresponding color. The resulting pattern of various size
and color blocks is a visual representation of the song. From Beethoven to Eminem, Rosen is able to create a work of art based on any song request. One client’s request
that demonstrates Rosen’s range was Notorious B.I.G.’s “Mo Money Mo Problems.”

Rosen, who prefers classic rock such as tunes by Bob Dylan, said an inexplicable phenomenon that has occurred is that people are often attracted to the artworks that represent the songs they like best. “When people tell me that I have a great sense of color or a great pattern, it’s not me, it’s Bob Dylan,” he said. “I’m just trying to be a conduit between the aural and visual.”

NEW YORK (June 4, 2009) – Erik Rosen, a New York artist, discovered how to translate music into Modern Art during a near-death experience. The Durst Organization will feature Erik’s interpretation of The Beatles’ “Hey Jude,” The Rolling Stones’ “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” and Bob Dylan’s “Positively 4th Street,” among others, at the Conde Nast Lobby Gallery, 4 Times Square, New York from June 15th through July 20th.

How it happened…
While in the depths of a stem cell transplant to treat lymphoma, Erik experienced “synesthesia” – a condition in which the senses misfire. For example, people feel odors, taste color or see sound. In Erik’s case, he saw the music emanating from his stereo. The songs revealed themselves as brightly colored rectangles on his hospital wall.

After his experience, Erik created a platform to transform musical notes into a visual image, or a cNOTE™. A cNOTE is comprised of a group of rectangles, each representing a note of a song. The color of the rectangle is determined by the pitch of the note, while the width represents the note’s duration. By arranging the rectangles in a linear form, it creates a song. It is music reflected in a picture. Any song can be transformed into a cNOTE.

cNOTE examples: http://www.cnoteart.com/cnote/PLAYLIST.html

“Consequences” Exhibition Dates
June 15 - July 20, 2009, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Conde Nast Building, 4 Times Square (42nd Street and Broadway), New York, NY

Reception for the Artist (NOTE: Media only, not for publication)
June 25, 2009, 6 - 8 p.m.

###

Contacts:
Heidi Boie or Darlene Hollywood
Darlene Hollywood Public Relations
508-846-5307 or 781-264-0511
heidi.boie@gmail.com or darlene@dhollywoodpr.com

New York, NY, April 03, 2009 --(PR.com)-- While in the depths of his second stem cell transplant to treat Stage IV Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Erik Rosen discovered how to turn music into Modern Art.

In the Fall 2009, Erik was locked in a “clean room” for 35 days while he underwent an Allogeneic Transplant at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City. Erik’s lungs filled with fluid, he was hours from kidney dialysis and he had no immune system. He was on a morphine drip.

That is when he saw The Velvet Underground’s Rock and Roll in his hospital room. He watched one song after another burst out of the iPod dock that he received a few days earlier for his 40th birthday. The notes echoed against the white masonry in an opiate-laden kaleidoscope of colors. This became the foundation for cNOTE Art, a custom Modern Art studio that can turn any song into a fine art.

Erik has virtually no formal training in music or art and has no idea why this happened to him. Since the transplant, Erik learned that other people also have sensory misfires. Some people can taste sound, feel odors, see pain, etc. It is a condition known as Synesthesia.

cNOTE is the platform that Erik created to express his Synesthetic experience. The cNOTE is a musical image. One means of creating a cNOTE is the “Rectangle Method.” The Rectangle Method achieves a superior aesthetic by redefining the two components of a musical note: duration and pitch. Here, duration is represented by rectangle size and pitch by color.

To view cNOTE examples or buy custom Modern Art, please visit www.cNoteART.com.

cNoteART
Erik Rosen
617.834.9600
erik@cNoteART.com
www.cNoteART.com
